Lokman Hekim Van Hospital made a first step in the region and successfully performed C1 and C2 neck bone surgery.

In a statement on the subject, Lokman Hekim Van Hospital Brain and Neurosurgery specialist Operator Dr. Ekrem Yalçın stated that Mahmut Yılmaz (49), who was injured as a result of a traffic accident in Hakkari, was sent to the hospital and said that Yılmaz had broken his neck bones called C1 and C2. "For the first time in this region, C1 v3 C2, that is, the first and second neck bones were intervened in," he said, noting that bones 3 to 7 in the neck section have been intervened in the region so far. For the first time, we intervened in the patient's C1 and C2 vertebrae and installed screws. However, after the intervention, the patient had a lung problem. He is also an Associate professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, one of the important specialists of our hospital. Dr. As a result of Halil Başel's intervention, both the neck intervention and the lung intervention were successfully completed by keeping the patient in the area, and the patient was removed from intensive care and taken to the ward,"he said.

Stating that patients had to go to big cities to have such interventions done before, Yalçın said, "This was a very important event for the region both medically and socially. Because it was the case that the people of the region went to big cities such as Istanbul and Ankara at such big events. In this sense, it is very important that this intervention is carried out for the first time in the region. In addition, we experienced and witnessed how important it is for the region to intervene in such large cases with the intensive care of our hospital here, with its doctors, on the example of our patient Mahmut Yilmaz,"he said.

Mahmut Yılmaz's brother Adil Yılmaz stated that no hospital accepted his brother and said, "Our teacher Ekrem accepted us. He was immediately taken to surgery. After a successful operation, our patient's condition is getting better every day. We are currently waiting for him to be discharged. In addition, we are happy that the intervention was made here without the need for metropolitan cities such as Istanbul and Ankara,"he said.

The patient named Mahmut Yilmaz also said that he felt well and thanked the hospital authorities and doctors. VAN
